Rally Round the Tally campaign news !

Beer and wine tasting at the Investors' Meeting, Advance Assurance from HMRC, support from our MP, and more...

Hello subscriber,

If you're an investor, potential investor or simply a supporter of the campaign to buy, re-open and secure the future of the Tally Ho in Littlehempston, then please come to the Investors' Meeting in Littlehempston Church on Tuesday 11th June at 7.30 pm.  Dartmoor and Teignworthy breweries have each agreed to provide barrels of beer for us to try, and we hope to have some wine and other drinks there too.  Work has started on plans for the look and feel, the menu and drinks offering, of a re-opened Tally Ho, but it’s important that all the shareholders – the members – of Littlehempston Community Pub Ltd. get the opportunity to contribute to the plans for their pub.

Please come along if you’ve got any questions, suggestions, offers of help etc. - or if you simply want to see what the people behind Littlehempston Community Pub Ltd. look and sound like ! There's a map on the contact page of our website if you need to know how to find us.  The church is very close to the Tally Ho.

HMRC says "Yes !"

We’ve finally had a letter from Her Majesties Revenue and Customs (HMRC) confirming that we will qualify for the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS), based on the information we supplied to them in our draft Share Prospectus and Business Plan (we applied for this Advance Assurance on 30th March).  That means that if you're a UK tax payer, and you plan to hold your shares in Littlehempston Community Pub Ltd. for at least three years, you should be able to claim 30% of your investment back from HMRC as an income tax rebate.  There’s much more information available on HMRC’s website.

Support from our MP

We've had an enthusiastic letter of support from Dr Sarah Wollaston, MP for Totnes ward. She writes:

'I was delighted to hear about the campaign to rescue the wonderful Tally Ho Inn in Littlehempston.  Pubs are at the heart of our local communities and I wish the best of luck to all those who are working to bring back this historic pub'

The Tally Ho is on the route of the proposed cyclepath that would link Totnes to several villages to the north, and Sarah is well known as a strong supporter of that path.  The path will be part of National Cycle Network route 2 (NCN2) which runs all the way from Dover in Kent to St Austell in Cornwall, but it will also make it easy and pleasant to travel a couple of miles out of Totnes on foot or cycle to a re-opened Tally Ho.

How can I help ?

So far we've raised £75,000, with some more applications that we know about in the pipeline - but we need to do better, and that's where you can help !  It would really help our project succeed if all of you could spread the word.  We've added a publicity materials page to our website where you can download leaflets and posters, print then out, and use them to tell the whole South Hams, the country, and the world about saving the Tally Ho.  The handouts are good for giving to interested people so that they can take them away and read them.  The A3 poster is for roadside use where people driving past can see it, and the Walk Past and Investors' Meeting posters can go anywhere that people are able to stop and read them - car, house and shop windows, notice boards etc.

The next couple of paragraphs were in our previous newsletter, but we make no apologies for repeating them - we need to get the money in now !

If you've thought you might like to buy shares in the Tally Ho but haven't quite got round to checking out the details - now's the time !  Visit www.tallyhoinn.co.uk, have a good look round - particularly at the Share Prospectus - and if you're happy, apply for some shares!  You can read the documents, fill in the application form, and transfer the money all online.  If you prefer you can print out the documents, fill in the paper application form at the end of the prospectus, and post it to us with a cheque.  Or you can choose any combination of paper and online that suits you!  If you want more information, or you've got any questions, reply to this e-mail, use our contact form or phone Mike Thomas on 01803 865058.

If you're one of those supporters that told us months ago you'd be interested in investing - you do need to actually fill in an application form and send us the payment for the shares.  If you haven't done that, you're not a shareholder, and you're not helping save the Tally - yet !

Finally, if you've got family or friends who might we interested in helping save the Tally Ho, please let them know about this campaign.  You can just forward this e-mail to them or simply send them a link to www.tallyhoinn.co.uk.  Building a network of friends and relatives will be the way that we'll get enough of us working together to buy the Tally and re-open it !

Cheers !

Littlehempston Community Pub Ltd.
