RALLY ROUND THE TALLY!

Rally Round the Tally

We've bought the pub !

Hello subscriber,

This e-mail's going out to supporters of the Tally Ho Inn, Littlehempston.

Yesterday Littlehempston Community Pub Limited completed the purchase of the Tally Ho - South Devon's first community pub.  The keys were finally handed over at about 3.30pm.

Now the hard work starts to get the pub cleaned, tidied and ready to be fully open again by Mothers' Day, Sunday 30th March. The plan is to re-open for shareholders and their partners on Thursday 27th, open to the public serving drinks only on Friday 28th, and have a full food menu available by Mothers' Day.

If you'd like to come and help get the Tally ready to re-open that would be great.  There should be someone there during the day until we re-open.  Reply to this e-mail, or phone Mike Thomas on 01803 865058 for more details (or just turn up !).

And if you'd like to come to the Tally for a meal on Mothers' Day, Sunday 30th, we're taking bookings.  Phone Andrew Mogford on 01803 762735.

Chris Webley and Hollie Brockwell - new chef and landlady of the Tally Ho

The pub will be run by landlady Hollie Brockwell and chef Chris Webley. They've worked together before at the Rising Sun, Frampton Cotterell, near Bristol - a free house that features prominently in The Good Beer Guide. Hollie and Chris admit to being nervous, but also excited and looking forward to the challenge of running a re-opened Tally Ho. This energetic young couple bring lots of experience with them - Chris has been a chef all his working life and Hollie started in the trade at a very tender age, helping in her parents' establishment, the Primrose Tea Rooms in Lustleigh.

Our MP Dr. Sarah Wollaston will formally re-open the Tally Ho on Saturday 26th April at 3.30 pm. More details of that event will be available nearer the time.

The majority of the money to buy the Tally has been raised by selling shares in Littlehempston Community Pub Limited (LCPL) to nearly 100 people, and loans have been offered to cover the rest. But shares are still available, and the more shares that are sold, the sooner the loans can be repaid. The sooner the loans are re-paid, the easier it will be to make the Tally Ho successful, and the better the returns will be for the investors (the members of LCPL).

When the Tally has been trading for four months, shareholders will be sent a form to let them claim back 30% of their investment as an income tax rebate under the government’s Enterprise Investment Scheme. If you'd like to be involved in this community project, and benefit from that generous encouragement by our government at the same time, then shares are still available at £250 each.

Recently the shareholders in Littlehempston Community Pub Limited got the first return on their investment when Paul Walker, the owner of Hunter's Brewery in Ipplepen, offered them a free brewery tour including food, a raffle, and a generous sampling of Hunter's beers. A good time was had by all.

Cheers,

Littlehempston Community Pub Ltd.
