April antics

Hello subscriber,

Signs of Spring everywhere – daffodils, primroses, sunshine and people out and about again. All good news for the Tally Ho!

The garden is bursting into flower and now the gas cylinders have been hidden behind a wooden fence – for safety and aesthetics – we can enjoy sitting out at the tables very soon. All volunteers for weeding and planting out for the summer will be more than welcome – the more people the more fun!

We have more good news to report as an Environmental Health Inspector paid an informal visit in response to Marc’s phone call. He was most impressed by the new kitchen fittings and the cleanliness of everything. He even suggested that 5 stars would have been awarded if he had been on a formal visit. Hopefully this will be in the not too distant future.

CAMRA have done us proud again, as the Tally is runner up in the South Devon Country Pub of the Year competition and also runner up in South Devon Pub of the Year! All congratulations go to Rachel and Marc and the team! To be 2 points behind that well known Dartmoor pub, the Rugglestone, is a pretty good position. National recognition next!

Our first Tap Takeover and Meet the Brewer evening at the end of March was a great success. More details (and pictures!) in this news item on our website. Don't miss the next one on Thursday 13th April!

With the loan from Lloyds bank now in place we can start researching different ideas for putting in a disabled toilet. As the Tally is a Grade 2 Listed building with tight corners and old plumbing, we need to get the plans suited to both customers and staff.

Our new chef, Steve, is producing delicious food which, in turn, has produced some 5 star TripAdvisor recommendations. He has settled in well, getting on famously with the rest of the team. One of the great strengths of the Tally is the professionalism, friendliness and reliability of the staff.

And then there are all the great ideas for pulling in the punters:

Sunday 2nd April is the first Sunday of the month. As usual we'll be Singing for Fun from 8pm - everyone welcome!

Tuesday 4th April (and every Tuesday) is Curry night. Come and enjoy a delicious curry and an appetising selection of side dishes including Bombay potatoes, naan bread and poppadums. Our normal menu is also available.

Thursday 13th April: Tap Takeover with Dartmoor Brewery. A must for all beer lovers!

Friday 14th April: Good Friday with some lovely Easter and Spring specials on the menu.

Sunday 16th April: Easter Sunday lunch - we will be serving our usual delicious roasts and vegetarian options followed by our famous dessert trolley. Booking advisable.

Tuesday 18th April is the third Tuesday of the month so it's Quiz Night (and Curry night).

Tuesday 25th April is the last Tuesday of the month so - Live Gypsy Jazz with Chez La Vie, and Curry night.

Cheers,

Littlehempston Community Pub Ltd.
