Tally Ho, Littlehempston's Community Pub - new logo

September Smiles

Hello subscriber,

The kids are back to school, there are fewer visitors in our Devon lanes, so it's easier to get to your favourite pub...

Dates for your diary

Saturday 10th September: A private function in the late afternoon and evening means the Tally will only be open to the public at lunchtime (from 11am to 3pm) and will not be serving food - only drinks.

Sunday 18th September: Steam train The Royal Duchy goes past the Tally - twice! And it's the 3rd Sunday of the month so it's Quiz Night! The quiz starts at 8pm, teams of up to 6 people, £1 a head entry, winning team takes the pot. Buffet supper available at 7.30pm at £6 per person.

Wednesday 28th September: Acoustic gypsy jazz group Chez La Vie will be playing live again at the Tally from around 8pm. Join us for dinner or a drink and enjoy their relaxing music.

Sunday 2nd October is the first Sunday of the month. As usual we'll be Singing for Fun from 8pm - everyone welcome!

Beer Fest thank you...

Our 3rd annual beer fest was a huge success. We had over 15 beers including ones from Wales and the Cotswolds to represent where Marc and Rachel have come from. The festival started on the Friday night this year which is something that we will do again next year. The weather was incredibly kind to us and the sun shone all weekend which meant all the visitors could enjoy the live music in the sun. Thanks must go to all the volunteers that helped make the whole thing possible - Ali, Ali, Andrew, Anne, Claire, James, Lawrence, Martin, Mike, Penny, Phez, Pym, Richard, Robin, Roger, Sacha - and to Riverford for lending us bales and gazebos. Thank you also to the church for letting us use their car park and by way of a thanks there will be donation given to church. We look forward to doing it all again next year and hopefully make it even bigger and better than this year.

Herald Express Pub of the Year 2016

Yes, it's that time of the year again! The Tally got a lot of good publicity out of this well deserved award last year and now Herald Express Pub of the Year 2016 has just been launched. First step is to get the Tally Ho nominated, and you can do that - just click on this link and fill in the nomination form.

Menus and menus

We'd love to know what you think about the menus at the Tally - both the way that they're presented, and the content.

New menu holders are being introduced to replace the folders that have been used for the last couple of years. There have been some concerns that the old folders look rather dated, the print is too small, and there are too many pages making it hard to find the list of meals that you're interested in. The new menus are just a single A4 sheet. But on the other hand, the folders allow room for information like opening hours, phone number, website and e-mail addresses, the pub's history and the share offer. Which do you prefer?

And what about the content - i.e. the food and drink that's on offer, and the prices? Are you happy with what's available, or would you like to see some changes?

Please get in touch and let us know what you think - we'd love to hear from you!

Fancy joining the River Dart Struggle?

A Tally Ho team to enter the Totnes Raft Race is being assembled and more crew members are needed! As well as people prepared to get a little damp on the day, we'd welcome practical, creative, engineering types to help actually construct our raft. Come on, you know you want to - click on the link above to get more details of the race, and then get in touch with the Tally Ho (see below) to sign up!

Cheers,

Littlehempston Community Pub Ltd.
