May, she will stay

Resting in my arms again.

Those lines are from a great Paul Simon song: April Come She Will, as I'm sure at least some of you will know. It's a very useful song for those of us who have to think up a newsletter title every month (all suggestions gratefully received - see below for contact details).

Hello subscriber,

Welcome to Rachel and Marc!

Rachel and Marc Davies

The Tally Ho has a new management couple! Rachel and Marc Davies jumped straight in at the deep end on Saturday 30th April - the start of the first May bank holiday weekend. They bring wide experience of the hospitality and food industries, and are delighted to be settling down in our tiny rural village.

Rachel and Marc were welcomed by a crowded pub on Friday 29th April and, at the same time, grateful thanks and a fond farewell went out to Kim and Ian who have been holding the fort at the Tally for the past few months, and also to our popular barmaid and waitress Chanel who’s leaving to join the army. We hope to see them all back again one day.

Here's what we've got to look forward to over the next few weeks:

Dates for your diary

Friday 6th May: Dartington Morris Men will be dancing from 8pm, followed by a session of singing and traditional music.

Sunday 15th May is the 3rd Sunday of the month so it's Quiz Night!. The quiz starts at 8pm, teams of up to 6 people, £1 a head entry, winning team takes the pot. Buffet supper available at 7.30pm at £6 per person.

Monday 30th May is a bank holiday and the Tally will be open!

Sunday 5th June is the first Sunday of the month. As usual we'll be Singing for Fun from 8pm - everyone welcome!

And a bit of advanced warning:

Friday 12th August to Sunday 14th August: the Tally Ho Beer Festival!

Did you know?

The Tally Ho used to be called The Bolton Arms (after a local landowning family) until 1952, and before that it was The Church House Inn. There's lots more interesting information like that, and some lovely old pictures, on our website's History page.

Cheers,

Littlehempston Community Pub Ltd.
