Tally stays open despite roadworks!

Road Works diversion map July 2016Devon County Coucil have given notice that the road in the centre of Littlehempston village between the telephone box and the bottom of the hill leading to Staverton and Landscove, will be closed from Monday 6th June for about two weeks to allow the “sink hole” there to be repaired. If you come to the Tally from “up north” (e.g. Staverton or Landscove) then you won’t be affected, but if you drive to our pub from anywhere else, then you’ll have to take a short diversion around our beautiful Devon lanes – well worth it, as the wild flowers are particularly spectacular at this time of year!

Cars approaching the Tally Ho from the A381 Totnes to Newton Abbot road will be diverted right at Littlehempston Cross (where the telephone box is) to follow the road north past Fordbridge Cross and Buckyette to Coppertree Cross. There you need to take a sharp left turn and follow the road all the way back past Parsonage Cross and down to Grattons Lane, where you turn right to find the Tally Ho. The whole diversion takes about 8 minutes. Click on the map to see a larger view.

It is hoped that the works will be completed by the 17th June but we have been warned that the completion date may need to be changed at short notice.

More details, including DCC’s formal site notices, are on the Littlehempston website.

So please don’t be put off coming to the Tally whilst these roadworks are under way. If anything the atmosphere and company should be even better than usual, with no through traffic passing, and loyal customers who’ve gone that extra mile sharing the pub with you. Beltane Border and Newton Bushel morris dancers won’t be put off either on Thursday 9th June!
