Couturier Dress maker, former Nutritionist and Teacher. Teaches sewing for free as part of the local Totnes Transition Town skill share programme. Grandmother of 9 – keen to take part in local community activities and help build local sustainability and ecology. www.ilovesewing.co.uk
First visited the Tally in the ’50s as a 13 year old. Spent 34 years in the Royal Navy, rising from baby stoker to Warrant Officer. Spent 27 months on Loan Service, to the Sultan of Brunei’s Armed Forces as Technical Planning Officer for The Flotilla. Appointed MBE in 1991 following service as Squadron Marine Engineer Officer to Mine Counter Measures Operations during the First Gulf War. Started a small coach business called Moor to Sea which was eventually sold to Girlings of Plymouth, and finished with them as a Transport Manager. Can often be found on a bicycle wobbling around the local lanes with my chums from Teign Valley Pedal Bashers after happy sessions at The Tally!
Taught in Primary schools for nearly 40 years, as Class Teacher, Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator, Assistant Head and School Governor. Was a Relate counsellor for 4 years and trainer for 2 more years. Also taught courses for the Workers’ Educational Association and now volunteers at Slapton Field Centre.
Former Technical Director of WBB Devon Clays based in Newton Abbot, now retired and a School Governor for 12 years. Member of CAMRA and founding member and licensee of Ipple Tipple beer festival in Ipplepen.
Worked for many years in music promotions for companies including Stiff Records, Island Records, Bullet, IRS Records and EMI, and with artists such as Madness, Kirsty McColl, Tracy Ullman, The Alarm, Jools Holland, Squeeze, Peter Frampton, Go-Go’s, Robbie Williams, Crowded House, Diana Ross, Jon Secada, Starsailor, Cold Play, Supergrass, Pink Floyd and many others.
